The months of summer 2021 bring a new level of uncertainty regarding what we can do to continue the important human connection which was enjoyed by Rotary over the years. Even though the "hands looking out into space" principle is certainly a the norm in our lives, there's no doubt that the confidence in Rotary is increasing and more people are making face-toface connections. However, the nature of Rotary has evolved. We are still uncertain about the manner in which the service we provide to others can be incorporated into the highly coveted connections between people which Rotary Members had during prior time. However, it is evident, that the hands-to-face mantra remains the norm for Rotary. The reality is that Rotary has evolved. Rotary has changed. While maintaining our online meetings to conduct business, we've re-introduced social interaction and service with a more secure face-to-face form. The new opportunities we have discovered are combining with the lessons we have learned about our past pandemics to provide a brand and new perspective for Rotary. In a recent Rotary survey it was heartening to find that 75% of clubs are making plans for their "business regular events" The months of summer have seen many club members on the move, focusing on initiatives such as beaches and rivers being cleaned, trash picking, and of course our ongoing support to the society of Rotary volunteer teams giving their time and energy to help COVID testing and vaccination centers.
